I was at the doctor’s the other day (Saturday the 28th of January, pretty sure) and she saw my last name on my file and says to me “You’re Sri Lankan right?” and I was like “Yep” and she sees my first name and says “Your first name is a boy’s name… Do you know your parents gave you a boy’s name?” and I was like “Yeah.. I know, I don’t think they really care and I don’t really care that much either.”
I kinda hate it when people bring up that it’s a boy’s name. Why does it have to be a boy’s name? It’s my name too AND I’M A LADY! It’s been my name for the last twenty-one years and it’s going to continue being my name, dammit! I can understand that some people like names to be gender specific and not cross over, but some people do! My parents did and I kinda love the fact that it’s a boy’s name - I’ve met many guys with the same name but I’ve never met another girl with the same name.
That’s all :)
